Poetry
I am taking an Independent Studay class and I am in a section where we are discussing poetry. Well, I have discovered that I am terrible at poetry! I can't handle it. I can't just read it. It takes too much thought, and I don't want to take the time to dissect the poems. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to read so many of them! Oh, well, I have to muscle through this because I'm only halfway through the class and I have less than a month left to finish it!!

Patience is a virtue
Maybe you know that I live life in the fast lane. Not that I do anything crazy, but when I decide I want something, I want it now. I want things to happen fast. I want my test scores back fast, I want people to write letters of recommendation fast, I want to move now, and not wait, that kind of stuff. And pretty much my life has been a study in patience. Obviously, I need this.
There are some things that I am ok doing slow, certain decisions, but somehow those are always the ones that need to happen fast. The other decisions that need more finesse, that take time, those are the ones I want to do more quickly. So I spend a lot of time telling myself to slow down, to chill out, reminding myself that other people don't move as quickly as I do.
Its a good thing the Lord knows what I need, because I would surely mess up my life on my own.

The latest . . .
Never be ashamed of your weight again!
Um, ok. Most people don't think that I should be ashamed of my weight. Except for my father, who if he knew my true weight, would tell me I need to lose fifteen pounds (ps dad, muscle weighs more than fat), and my brother-in-law who thinks I need to gain fifteen pounds.
I think I'll stay where I am, thank you.

The Joys
Of living with small children that aren't your own.
Last night, I tried to go to bed at ten because I've been getting up at six and I really love my eight hours of sleep. As is normal, I didn't fall asleep until eleven. Not really a big deal until at about quarter to one when I wake up to the Little Monster coming in my room because he is scared. Fortunately the next question he asks is where is his mom. I tell him that she is in her room and he leaves. And then he comes back. So I ask him what his mother said. She said to go back to bed, so I pretty much tell him the same thing. But it is not long before he comes back into my room. So I ask him what he is afraid of. He says big, fat men. If I had been awake, I would have laughed so hard at that. So I let him crawl into my bed and fall asleep.
At three, he wakes me up to tell me that it is the bad guy from Mulan that he was afraid of. We watched that movie last night before bed. I didn't expect him to be scared of Shan Yu. Little Monster is not really afraid of anything in movies, but his nine year old brother is.
Sadly, that was not the end of people interupting my sleep. At five, there was a knock at more door. Two actually, I couldn't figure out what the sound was at first. I looked up after I said come in and said to the dad shaped silhouette in the doorway "Little Monster's in here" and then went back to sleep. And got up at 6:30.
Apparently, dad came to mom when he got up because he couldn't find Little Monster. She sent him to my room. I'm glad someone figured out where he went.
