I don't mind budgeting. My difficulty is budgeting for food and gas. I never know how much I am going to eat and how far I am going to drive. I just can't seem to do it.
what works for us is setting a reasonable cap (separating groceries from eating out-- it really helps). Then track it. If you find you're spending $300/mo on food, and $200 of that is eating out, it gives you an idea that maybe you can do $150 and try bringing food from home some points. It's fun when you make it a game and have to go without something because it's the last day of the month...
is a comment allowed to be longer than the post? ;)
I will have to try the cap. But I've all but eliminated eating out. I generally like the food I make better. I get $5 pizza once or twice a month and that's it. So cutting back on eating out isn't going to help much. Maybe I find it hard because there is no one else to play the game with.
