On Friday night, my computer started having problems. Meaning it started thinking and I couldn't do anything about it. So I shut it down, let it sit and charge for a while and then tried to turn it on again. It worked for a little while, and then did the same thing. So I shut it down again. I was mildly confused at this point. After that, it wouldn't turn on at all. It would power up, but then I'd get that symbol that is a circle with a line diagonally through it. Let me tell you, that is bad news. I tried taking out the battery and replacing it and everything that is on the Apple website for troubleshooting. Nothing. I finally just went to bed.
Fortunately, when I purchased my computer, I also purchased the AppleCare Protection Plan (I highly recommend this, as who really has the money to fork over for who knows how much and for how long). So Saturday I called and he said it sounded like my hard drive was bad. So he scheduled an appointment for me at the nearest Apple Store and I took it in that night. Yes, my hard drive is messed up. So I had them replace it.
The sad part of this story is that none of my information was backed up. I could have taken my computer to a data recovery place and paid $800-$3000 for them to recover my information. But that's definitely some money I do not have. So I spent all day today rewriting my assignment that was due today and I no longer have any of my music or my pictures, from France and England and everything else.
I decided to look at this as a fresh start, a clean slate. (This means I need no condolences Dad). Most of my music is on cds and I found several of the things I thought I had lost in other places (still missing those pics from France, minus the ones on this blog) but let this be a warning to all of you, if you want to keep the info on your computer, make sure you back it up. My computer is only a year and a half old. They said it was nothing I had done, just the jiggling from moving around (to England, to France, to CA, to WA etc, etc, etc)
Anyway, here's to a fresh start!!

My computer has randomly shut-down on me several times in the last several weeks. It seems to happen just before I hit "send" on an important e-mail or something else that you don't normally "save" because it is automatically saved to the "sent" file. I'll check into what I have to do to "backup" my machine. Thanks, and Love lots, Papa.
