On Friday night, my computer started having problems. Meaning it started thinking and I couldn't do anything about it. So I shut it down, let it sit and charge for a while and then tried to turn it on again. It worked for a little while, and then did the same thing. So I shut it down again. I was mildly confused at this point. After that, it wouldn't turn on at all. It would power up, but then I'd get that symbol that is a circle with a line diagonally through it. Let me tell you, that is bad news. I tried taking out the battery and replacing it and everything that is on the Apple website for troubleshooting. Nothing. I finally just went to bed.
Fortunately, when I purchased my computer, I also purchased the AppleCare Protection Plan (I highly recommend this, as who really has the money to fork over for who knows how much and for how long). So Saturday I called and he said it sounded like my hard drive was bad. So he scheduled an appointment for me at the nearest Apple Store and I took it in that night. Yes, my hard drive is messed up. So I had them replace it.
The sad part of this story is that none of my information was backed up. I could have taken my computer to a data recovery place and paid $800-$3000 for them to recover my information. But that's definitely some money I do not have. So I spent all day today rewriting my assignment that was due today and I no longer have any of my music or my pictures, from France and England and everything else.
I decided to look at this as a fresh start, a clean slate. (This means I need no condolences Dad). Most of my music is on cds and I found several of the things I thought I had lost in other places (still missing those pics from France, minus the ones on this blog) but let this be a warning to all of you, if you want to keep the info on your computer, make sure you back it up. My computer is only a year and a half old. They said it was nothing I had done, just the jiggling from moving around (to England, to France, to CA, to WA etc, etc, etc)
Anyway, here's to a fresh start!!

Religion vs Knowledge
I was blessed to attend a religious institution where professors incorporated secular and religious information. Now as I am at a secular institution, I find it highly disturbing that people are so blinded into seeing only one side of the world and of knowledge. I am frustrated that my religiosity is seen as inferior because I cannot 'prove' what my faith tells me. A big part of this also may be the view that my vote was based on stupidity instead of a firm belief of what is right and wrong. I think I am most disturbed by the thought that I cannot have a real discussion with these people, that they will not understand my point of view, or even try and that it will resort to name calling. I am pretty much frustrated by the whole situation.
Here is an article I found that kind of puts things in perspective.

Every Girl Needs a Bond
Why?
He stands up when she leaves the table/room.
He opens doors for her.
(based solely on the last two movies)
He understands that she is fully capable of doing what needs to be done, but
He recognizes her vulnerability and that with a little tender loving care, she will be able to do what is necessary.
Guys, take note.

Twilight is the new Titanic
I can already see this happening. Lines of teenybopper girls going to see Twilight, using all their babysitting money to see the movie multiple times so that it makes way more money than it should. We'll see if the plot is just as pointless as the Titanic. Oh wait. I've read the books and it is.
